Located in the former Palace of Abbot Don Esteban Lorenzo de Mendoza, it now houses the Archaeological Museum and the Tourist Information Office of Alcalá la Real.
The current building was rebuilt in 1791 and is located in the emblematic and central Carrera de las Mercedes street. Inside you will find, among other remains from our past, the Roman sculpture of Hercules, rescued from the Roman site of the Domus Herculana, and the renowned Tesorillo de Ermita Nueva, a caliphal treasure from the 10th century, a witness to medieval life. A real journey through time in the Abbot’s house.
