Game instructions

The game will be developed through a series of enigmas and tests to be carried out in the different historical sites.

You can participate in teams of 2 to 6 people, with 4 being the ideal number recommended.

The registration of the teams will be done through the form. Only one registration per team is required, regardless of the number of players in the team. Prior registration on the Monumental Escapist League website is recommended in order to speed up the game process.

Teams will be provided with an application through the website as a support element. It will provide access to clues and information, help can be requested, time will be measured and points will be counted for the final ranking. The application is blocked by geolocation, so you can only access the “escape room” of the different locations by being physically in the place of each of them.

Teams will accumulate prestige points as they progress through the game and pass challenges. Once the recommended playing time has elapsed, the teams can continue playing until the mission is completed, but the points accumulated will be lost.

To solve the puzzles, the answer must be entered into the mobile application. If incorrect answers are entered, the app will count them and start deducting prestige points from the third incorrect answer are entered, After the fourth incorrect answer, a help will automatically appear to enable you to progress.

Teams can request, via the mobile application, help to solve the puzzles that they find difficult. Each request for help will subtract prestige points.

The mobile phone is an additional element of the game, so it is important that one of the participants’ phones has enough battery power for the entire duration of the adventure.

Listening to audio is required. If the mobile phone used in the game does not have good sound quality, teams may optionally use their own headphones or small speakers.

The “escape room” must start at the indicated time, so it is advisable to arrive 10 minutes before the start time in order to be able to start on time.

The playing time is between 60 and 100 minutes. At the beginning of each “escape room” the maximum time to finish the investigation will be specified. The consumption of the recommended playing time does not imply the end of the game, you can continue until the enigma is solved, losing, however, prestige points as minutes are added to the clock.

It is recommended to use mobile phones only for the functions of the game. All puzzles can be solved with the game material and, in case of difficulty, help can be requested. Resolutions cannot be found on the Internet and using the Internet to try to solve the puzzles can lead to confusion and delays.

To participate in one of the five escape rooms of the Monumental Escape League, you must book in advance. This can be done through our form

Safety regulations

The “escape room” takes place in historical spaces, so the monuments and their property must be respected at all times, and it is not permitted to touch elements other than those used in the game.

Running is not allowed under any game circumstances. The environments have the limitations of a historical site (unstable terrain, different heights, stairs or steep slopes, etc.) so, for the safety of the participants, it is important not to take any action that could pose a risk. The fact that the recommended playing time is about to end is not considered as a reason to run.

No climbing or jumping is allowed

It is not allowed to use brute force to move objects, open boxes or release locks. All tests can be solved logically and deductively.

Teams will accumulate prestige points as they progress through the game and pass challenges. Once the recommended playing time has elapsed, the teams can continue playing until the mission is completed, but the points accumulated will be lost.

Accessibility to some of the play areas is limited due to the unavoidable architectural barriers of the monuments themselves. People with reduced mobility should consult their possibilities to play beforehand.

Teams can request, via the mobile application, help to solve the puzzles that they find difficult. Each request for help will subtract prestige points.

For safety reasons, the organisers may deny participation in the game to people who are suspected of being in an altered or drunken state, or who are not in a suitable condition to participate in the “escape room” with guarantees of safety for themselves or for the rest of the participants.

The organisation reserves the right to temporarily stop or terminate the game if the participants carry out any action that could pose a risk to people or property.

Game Tips

Watchful eye

Observation and logic are the best allies. Solving many of the puzzles is based on careful observation of the game environment.

Creative mind

Not everything is always as it seems. Looking at clues from other perspectives will help to solve them.

The importance of details

There is a reason for everything. Solutions can be found in the smallest details

Communication

Communication between the game team is essential. Sometimes you may find that several clues work together, so it is important to share information to find the resolution.

Cooperation

Working together is key. It is important that all team members interact and look for options to solve the puzzles.

Levels of difficulty

Each of the escape rooms has a different level of difficulty, so that throughout the Monumental Escape League players will have the opportunity to try out easier and more complex escape room models.

Time management

Playing time is a factor to be taken into account. If an enigma becomes complicated, you can ask for help so that you do not spend too much time solving it.

Specific rules

Alcazaba of Antequera

In this “escape room” it is possible to manipulate objects and furniture. Although they are not historical pieces, they must be treated with care and always put back as they were in order not to disturb the rest of the visitors.

The escape room can be played at any time during the opening hours of the Alcazaba.

The maximum recommended playing time is 75 minutes. This time takes into account the time required to move from one place to another inside the Alcazaba (so it is not necessary to run) and any possible waiting time that may occur due to other visitors occupying the game places.

The mobile phone will have to be used outdoors throughout the game, in bright sunny hours, so this could be a limitation to see the screen well. The use of the mobile phone does not imply having to be physically in a specific space, once the data has been located in a place, the players can move to shady places with better visibility to obtain the information.

Comfortable clothing and footwear is recommended, as the game involves walking on unstable terrain and going up and down steep stairs.

On hot days, it is recommended to bring water.

Fortaleza de la Mota in Alcalá la Real

The Fortaleza de la Mota escape room is a game of deductive logic in which there are no pieces or objects to manipulate. All the puzzles can be solved by using the game materials provided at the start and by observing the environment, so any idea of a solution that involves touching, opening or moving should be discarded.

The escape room can be played at any time during the opening hours of the Fortress.

As the game takes place during the monument’s public visiting hours, players may encounter other visitors during their game. It is important that the development of the game does not interfere with the visitors present, as this is considered an additional game factor that adds to the realism of the game in a different environment.

The maximum recommended playing time is 100 minutes. This time takes into account movement from one place to another within the Fortress (so no running is necessary) and any waiting time that may occur as a result of other visitors occupying the game places.
